MicroSilk® Oxygen Bath Brings Arkansas Women, Business Owners Together to Develop Skin Care Support Network Absent in State

(North Little Rock, AR -- August 29, 2013) "It takes your life completely over. From the time you get up in the morning to the time you go to bed at night, it's what you do. It's what you're concerned with and every activity of the day revolves around that. It's hard to watch your child -- it's more painful than I think people understand," said Whitney Jones of Humnoke, Ark.

Whitney's daughter, Alayna, 9, was diagnosed with eczema in 2004 when she was six months old. Her condition became agitated. For years, she suffered red, dry skin and a painful itch that would not go away. Her daily regimen included over-the-counter antihistamines and prescription medicines for asthma and anxiety. Her condition became so unsettling that she visited a behavioral therapist weekly to deal with anxiety. Without a community of fellow "eczema families" to lean on for support, the Joneses relied heavily on doctors' advice and encouragement. "We've been through a lot, and she's been really bad for a lot of years."

As Alayna's condition worsened, the Joneses decided to remodel their home in an effort to remove possible allergens. Whitney picked up a Jason International MicroSilk® bath brochure. As she read the words "eczema" and "psoriasis," she started to cry.

"We had been through so many doctor appointments, so many creams, and so many heartbreaks over something working and then not working. And MicroSilk® Hydrotherapy seemed like the answer," she explained.

In pursuit of relief for Alayna, Whitney called Falk Plumbing Supply in North Little Rock, and visited the showroom. Sandy Morehead, the showroom manager, suffered a severe case of eczema in her youth and has no hesitations with helping those with skin conditions. Sandy regularly invites people like Alayna to experience MicroSilk® hydrotherapy. "We put Alayna in the bath and ran a 20-minute cycle," Jones said. "We took her out and her skin looked as it had never looked before. The red, dry skin was healed and her skin was milky white."

North Little Rock-based, Jason International specifically created MicroSilk® Hydrotherapy to rejuvenate the skin. In the bath, MicroSilk® generates oxygen-rich microbubbles in the bath water that reach deep in to the pores to cleanse and moisturize the skin and leave it visibly healthier and smooth.

The Jones family installed a MicroSilk® bath in their home, and Alayna now feels "normal" and her skin looks healthy. Two weeks after she started her MicroSilk® bathing routine, Alayna looked and felt so much better that she stopped taking anxiety medicine, stopped taking the antihistamines, and stopped going to therapy.

With such lifestyle change and knowing how hard families fight to manage skin diseases, Whitney could not keep MicroSilk® a secret. She shared Alayna's progress with Jason International and reached out to other moms whose children are struggling through eczema. Mary Ross of Maumelle became a believer when, at Whitney's suggestion, she took her six-year-old daughter Emily to Falk and saw immediate improvement. Emily got a full night of sleep -- something that hadn't occurred in years.

Skin care is a relatively new field for Jason International. "Our MicroSilk® baths had been on the market for about a year, and reports of the unique benefits of bathing in microbubbles and dissolved oxygen came pouring in," said Jacqueline Jacuzzi Peregrin of Jason International. "We immediately began to research skin conditions to learn how we could help a wide range of people struggling for relief and comfort every day. We found support groups across the nation for eczema, psoriasis, and other conditions, but found nothing in our home state."

For mothers like Whitney and Mary, caring for a skin condition can be a full time job. And these skin conditions are not relegated to just children. Some conditions restrict mobility, and cause, not only discomfort, but insecurity and inconvenience as people change their wardrobe, schedules, and lifestyles to cope with skin diseases with no known cure.

Because of the needs identified through MicroSilk®, these women spurred an initiative to start skin care support groups in Arkansas. "Connecting with Whitney and other mothers raising children with skin care issues let me know that we are not alone in our struggle. While MicroSilk® helps Emily's symptoms immensely, the eczema doesn't disappear. Support groups will be a great environment for people to connect, share, and learn about what works best for them," said Mary.
