The owners of this bathroom addition had been used to a tub/shower combo with a single sink vanity. The wish list was specific. The owners wanted a separate soaking tub and walk in shower for two. A double vanity with lots of storage was a must. When we suggested the fireplace, it immediately became part of the plan. We placed a large contemporary soaking tub in front of the windows creating a focal point. We designed a soffit in the shower to keep the height of the rain shower head at a good level for use. Privacy was created in the toilet area, but the area is not enclosed. Instead, we designed the plumbing wall to be open on the sides to allow light to pass through.
The fireplace is enjoyed both in the bathroom and the bedroom. We tiled the fireplace surround to define the space. We kept the color pallet simple and added interest with texture and pattern. We used a textured tile on the floor. White gloss tile is large (12” x 18”) in scale with the size of the shower and offsets the Egyptian glass tile blend. For the countertop, seat bench, shower ledge and shelves we used IceStone. This brings more color and texture to the space.
To help define the vanity area, we surrounded the mirrors in 3 Form resin panels. Instead of traditional light sconces we hung delightful “Bedazzled” pendants. And we can’t forget to mention chandelier which mixes modern and classic design. The overall color combination of the white contrasted by the rich cabinetry and pop of color creates a spa bathroom the owners have always dreamed of.
